Jack got in trouble last week, and his punishment was, he couldn't play video games until he weeded the side yard.  It had overgrown like crazy while we were gone so it has taken him almost a week.  It wasn't so bad last week but it's been in the upper 90's the last 3 days so he's only been working in the evening when it's shaded.  I guess he got tired of not being able to play because this is how he is working today. 😂😂

We're definitely getting the end of summer blues around here, but taking advantage of every last warm day! 
Kaleb was mad because we "made" him go boating!  Aren't we horrible parents? 🙄
I can't believe that Jack will be old enough to get his boating license in 2 months! 
Jack loves surfing! He's getting so good, it just comes natural to him.  
It's a good thing he's cute! Lol
Send It had some private practices at the track. It was nice to be able to work on things in small groups.  Jack has gotten too big for his bike so I guess a new one is in our future! This is him on Austin's bike that's 2 sizes bigger than his and he looks much more comfortable. 
Kenny and Milly are staying with us for 5 days while Ken and Shelby are at bike week in Ocean City so he was able to join one of the practices.  
We stopped to get chick fil a on the way home and while Jack and I were inside waiting for our order I looked out and saw Kenny and Kaleb hanging out of the car. haha
Milly claimed Barrett's spot. Lol
The weather was perfect this weekend so we got out on the boat 3 days in a row! This was the first time Kenny has gotten to play with us on the tubes this year! 
I got up Sunday morning and looked outside and saw Kaleb installing his new handle bars in his pj's. Lol
we've gotten in a really good groove with homeschool but there are days they just don't want to cooperate.  George Washington wasn't feeling the constitution lesson today.  🤣
Another school project
I was feeling really domesticated the other day because I pulled out my bread machine, for the first time since we moved here 10 years ago and made cinnamon swirl bread with honey cinnamon butter
 I also made fall pillow covers for the big pillows on my couch.  My hope is to do a set for every season! 
Last year the Meckley's remodeled their house and put these cool climbing peg boards in Kenny's room.  Once they were done Shelby told the kids that she would pay the first one to the top $50. It's taken a while but Kaleb was the first to do it!

August 21, 2023 I usually start school a week or two before the county so we have some wiggle room and can be finished by memorial day but since we were gone so long we started the same day as the county. Jack is in 8th grade.  He still hates school and thinks it's a waste of time.  🙄 I really hope this is the year he accepts that he has to do it and has a better attitude about it.   Kaleb is in 7th grade.  We had a long talk the night before about him being in middle school now and I'm not going to sit beside him all the time and walk him through his work.  🤞 for a good year!  I didn't plan a full jump in the first week and it went really well! I guess the fall is wedding season now because we had 2 in 2 weekends.  Josh and I were able to celebrate Roman and Teresa's wedding with them and a lot of our neighbors! The day was beautiful and we love their family so much!  Josh left the next day for Nevada for 6 weeks and missed Steph and Kenny's annual birthday party! I love that we celebrate the grown ups birthdays with the kids!  Our BMX team planned a day to go to a new skate park and when we got there there was an event going on that none of us knew about so it was so crowded.  Jack doesn't have a park bike so he brought a skateboard and I was so proud of him for just getting out there and trying even though there were so many people.  He really is growing up!  Then he took his mountain bike out there and had fun with the other kids on bikes Kaleb On Oct 21st we had t...

The last bit of August

Saturday, August 26th was the last VA state Qualifier, so we had to race it so they will be eligible to get State Plates at the end of the Season.  The race was at VMP just south of Richmond.  It's a dirt track that's really bumpy and not well maintained.  Kaleb slid out in the second turn in round 1 and Jack came in 4th abs only top two transferred so they both had to race the next round.  Round two wasn't kind to us.  Kaleb was taking first and slid out and hit another kid.  Izzy stopped to check on Kaleb and Holly and I kept yelling "go Izzy, get first!" LOL. Kaleb was down for a while and in shock for about an hour.  We were very thankful he didn't break anything but it was scary watching him so confused. We kept asking him questions and he couldn't answer some of them.  He couldn't remember how many kids were in his race and kept asking what happened.  He hurt his finger pretty bad and took a handlebar to the gut, but it could have been ...
