July 21-26, 2023 North Dakota and Montana

Josh and I were both surprised how flat North Dakota was.  I had always thought it would have rock hills and be dry like South Dakota, but nope, it's farm land.
We stopped at a Lewis and Clark museum.  This was the town they stayed their first winter in where they made friends with the Indians.
Next we stopped in Medora, ND to get some bike parts for Kaleb's mountain bike.  It was a cute little western town.  I think the kids liked the trampoline in the middle of town best.  Haha
Getting our flower
We hadn't been in a rush for anything until now and of course we get a nail in the tire. We needed to be in Great Falls, Montana the next day by 11:00am because the boys were racing.  Josh and Jack got the spare on and we drove until after midnight so we would only have 2 hours to go the next morning.

Josh and I originally planned to retire in Montana, but we realized the summers are just too short for how much we love to boat! Nonetheless, we absolutely love it out here! We made it in time for the race.  The Electric City BMX track was nice and all the people were so friendly!  Jack didn't have a class so they moved him up to 13 Expert. He didn't make mains but I kept reminding him that he just classed up last month and these boys are experts.
Kaleb placed 2nd in the Montana state race.
We got a campsite for 2 nights on Malmstrom Air Force Base where I was able to do some laundry.
Cooking dinner😊
The boys are having a blast with their RC cars but Jack keeps going so fast that he breaks it a lot so we're always looking for a Traxxas store.
The next day was a Gold Cup Qualifier at Electric City BMX. The boys did really well and I was so impressed with the local kids and how supportive they were.

This kid came up to Jack before the second race and did "you got this man" even though it was him he was racing.  He was right, Jack overtook him on the last straight and got a place in the mains!
Kaleb placed 2nd!
Jack placed 3rd!
I couldn't find Kaleb for few minutes then started feeling leaves and acorns hitting my chair, sure enough, he's in the tree!
We spent the rest of our day exploring Great Falls and finding a Traxxas store where they had the truck Kaleb has been saving for so Josh told him he could get it.
We started collecting stickers on our 2019 road trip. Sadly, when we sold our old trailer the stickers went with it.  We have been doing magnets and putting them in the van but not everyone has then so we still get some stickers.  I was excited to start putting them in our new trailer.  We've gotten all the BMX track stickers where we've raced.
After leaving Great Falls, wetook 3 days making our way around Flathead Lake, which is so beautiful! It is so clear! I thought it would be too cold to swim in but it actually felt good and the boys loved jumping off the docks.
The water was so clear that i was in up to just below my shoulders and could still see my feet!
Barrett had just a much fun as we did! He swam and swam and swam! Josh kept trying to call him over to him and he would swim close but when Josh would reach for him he would swim away.  Haha I guess he needed to get some energy out!
Our campground was so nice! The pool was a bonus, but we were totally out of our league.  All the campers were huge and people were living there.  Jack thought it was funny cause he met a man that had been there since May and had grown a tomato garden.
A cool bike track along the way that Josh actually turned around to go back to! It was a nice break and we had a lot of fun.
Josh even took a ride.
Tuesday, Josh's parents met up with us and we saw more of Flathead, then pulled off in a national forest and the boys rode dirt bikes.
                                    Mr. COOL!
After that we found another swimming spot
then camped in the church parking lot! 🫣 I was ok with just pulling on the side of a mountain but Randy and Sandy insisted we stay there.

Wednesday, we headed to our campground near Glacier,  but first, we had to stop at a Traxxas store in Kalispell! 😂 the campground was really nice! Josh stole Kaleb's bike to ride to Randy and Sandy's spot, Kaleb wanted it back, they compromised.
Barret wasn't allowed in Glacier National Park so I found a lady to keep him so he didn't have to be in the crate in the trailer for 2 days.  She kept texting me pictures and telling me how good he was!
