Rock Hill BMX Nationals! March 2023

Last year we only did local races and 1 state race so the boys didn't qualify for a state plate. This year they wanted to get a bit more serious and do the state series and a few Nationals. Their first one was in Rock Hill, SC. We raced all 3 days and it was fun but an eye opener.  This track was the biggest they had ever raced on and the Hill at the gate was so steep it was intimidating.  This was Kaleb's first race since breaking his wrist and I was nervous but he got right back out there.
The first day was good but so long.  We didn't get too the hotel until 1am and had to be back at 8:00am the next morning. Jack raced 13 Novice, he made it to mains but came in 4th. Kaleb raced 11 Intermediate and there were 28 kids.  That's 4 gates that they had to get down to 1. He made it to quarter finals.  That age group is something fierce.  This was an eye opener  for him because he doesn't have much competition at home.
Day two was so cold and went about the same.  Kaleb made it to quarters and Jack made it to mains but crashed with another kid at the bottom of the hill.
That was his first crash so we were nervous he wouldn't want to race the next day. He was hesitant but he did and I'm so glad because he took 2nd and had his number 1 fan watching him 🥰
Battle Bruises! 😂😂
